About Panhandle Historical Fencing
Panhandle Historical Fencing is a dedicated HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) club located in Amarillo Tx. We are committed to preserving and teaching authentic sword fighting techniques from centuries past. We specialize in German longsword instruction, drawing from historical manuals and proven methodologies to provide our members with a comprehensive understanding of this noble martial discipline.
Our mission is to make historical martial arts accessible to everyone, regardless of experience level. We believe in the value of learning traditional combat techniques not just as physical training, but as a way to connect with history and develop discipline, focus, and respect. With plans to expand our curriculum, we’re building a community of passionate practitioners dedicated to the art of historical fencing.
Our Classes and Services
German Longsword Introduction
Learn the fundamentals German longsword fighting. This class will guide you through historical forms, footwork, and combat applications based on authentic medieval and renaissance manuals. Starting at $90 all beginner gear is provided.
Rapier Introduction (WORK IN PROGRESS)
Learn the fundamentals rapier fencing. This class will guide you through historical forms, footwork, and combat applications based on authentic medieval and renaissance manuals. NOT YET AVAILABLE.
Open Gym
For all practitioners, a place to learn sparring strategies, have one on one time and deepen historical context to refine your mastery of the sword. New to historical martial arts? Start with our beginner-friendly HEMA training program designed to build foundational skills, conditioning, and confidence in a supportive environment.
